It was the third day of our trip, and we were moving to another hotel. After check-out, we took the Oedo (大江戸) Line from Kuramae (蔵前) Station and got off at Shiodome (汐留) Station. We left our baggage at Villa Fontaine before we could travel light for the rest of the day.

Shiodome is a very business-like place with lots of buildings for firms large and small. You can see people in black suits come and go. Don't worry about the vehicles. As a pedestrian, you either walk underground or on the elevated sidewalks.

We planned to go to Zojoji (增上寺) first, but got lost. Within ten minutes we were at Shimbashi JR Station.

We took a break near noon at MosBurger on Hibiya Street (日比谷通り), a (maybe the most) popular fast food chain in Tokyo. We also have MosBurger here in Taiwan.

At last, we were at Shiba Park, from where the Tokyo Tower is near.

We didn't go to the viewing deck since it was only 150m high and the tickets were pricey (and maybe because we just saw the night view of the city from Skytree a couple of days ago). So we left Tokyo Tower and hoped to find Zojoji. Unfortunately, when we arrived at the side gate of Ankoku-den (安国殿), the guard told us that no one was allowed to get in except for worship. So we went straight for the front gate of Zojoji, only found that the whole place was under maintenance for an upcoming event. So there was no way that we could enter the area.

Being disappointed, we went along the Hibiya Street until we reached the Satsuma-han (薩摩藩) residence in Edo, now the NEC building.

At Mida (三田) Station, we finally found the place where Katsu Kaishu (勝海舟) and Saigo Takamori (西郷隆盛) met to negotiate the opening of Edo Gate without blood shedding.

We took the subway at Mida Station and returned to Shimbashi Station via the Asakusa Line, then walked to Shiodome. There is a building (Caretta Shiodome) where you can take the elevator to the 45th floor to see the Tokyo Bay Area, including Odaiba (お台場).

Then we returned to the food courts and ate Udon at Marukame (丸亀), and went back to the hotel to check in. What we got for the following three nights was a room with the atrium view with a 160cm-wide bed (breakfast included). I had booked the room in advance from their website: http://www.hvf.jp/eng/shiodome.php. If you happen to know some Japanese, I recommend that you check their Japanese pages for better bargains. Mine was 10,000 Yen per night.

After check-in, it was still early, about 6 or 7 o'clock, so we went to the Starbucks near our hotel and drank coffee there. Then we went to Caretta Shiodome again to see the night view of the Tokyo Bay.
